Somebody who wanted to avoid taking a thread in a different direction sent me a good question in regards to a comment that I made. I did not recognize the name so I do not know how to respond back. I tried to use the email address given, but maybe I copied it wrong and the mail adminstrator said it did not go through.
It was in regards to a comment that a minister made saying that someone's grandparents by a goodly life and doing such things as keeping the Lord's Day holy showed that they knew Christ. The question posed was that the Jewish Sabbath would not affirm a belief in Christ as they do not recognize him as their Messiah. I agree with what you said as far as the modern Jewish Chruch as they do not believe the Messiah has come. It did give the man a little solace though and I would rather have someone think that than to think that their beloved ancestors had no hope of a joyous afterlife.
I am glad though that in the Restored Gospel that we know that God covers all the bases and prepares away for all of his children including those who lived in remote regions or never had the opportunity in this life to be taught in the Spirit World as was briefly touched upon in one of Peter's Epistles in the Holy Bible.

I wrote the email. It just confused me that someone would say that Jews keeping the Sabbath somehow made them know Christ. The thread was about something else (maybe studying about the church?) and I didn't want to sidetrack the discussion. And it didn't seem worth starting a new thread about.
I know many observant Jews that would be very offended by that statement, so I was just curious.

Rachel, I did not see that you had responded until now. I thought it was a very legitimate question on your part. I tried to email you, but I must of copied it wrong and I deleted it so I started the thread.
I am sorry that I am bad with names so I did not recall you personally.
May we become more acquainted in the future! Posts: 3434 | Registered: Feb 2005
