Underwhelmed tonight. Taylor, Katharine and Paris were my favorites. Who'll leave this week? Don't have the heart to speculate.

This is really a likable bunch of young people, and it would not upset me to see Chris, Mandisa, "Princess P", or Taylor win, though I really think Mandisa's future is a huge record contract with a Christian music label, and "Princess P" (sorry, they called her that tonight, now I can't remember her real name) belongs on Broadway.
I thought Taylor did great tonight, though it looked like he had on too much makeup! Previous weeks some of the judges criticized his jumping around, so tonight they criticized his not jumping around. Chris might have slipped a notch tonight, be he'll overcome it. As in the case of Taylor, the last several weeks the judges have praised Chris for "not compromising" and "knowing who he is." So tonight he really shows who he is and gets blasted for it! I agree with Simon, it'll come down to those two.
All the rest have talent, but may not be distinctive enough for stardom. Bucky can make some good money on the country bar / casino scene for a couple of years. Kellie could do well in Branson, MO. McFee has a beautiful voice, but has no unique style of her own. Elliott may have the best voice of the men, but lacks the "x" factor. Ace is too nasal (and did anyone else regurgitate a bit when he dramatically showed his scar?), and Lisa too bland.
Sorry for the long post, but now you don't have to watch for several weeks. I've already let you know who'll be gone by the finals.

Ah, you're too kind, hearserve, but now I'll have to watch to check your accuracy. Although, I'm totally buying your reasoning, but caveat emptor, you know.

Yeah, the scar thing was WAY unnecessary. So was Paula breathing "Sometime you'll have to tell me how you got that scar" at him. The comeback, "I was playing basketball and hit the T-bar" cracked me up. I don't think that's the story Paula was expecting!
I was underwhelmed tonight as well, even with Chris, my favorite. He rocks, but "What If" by Creed was a little hard for a singing competition, IMO.
I'm guessing Bucky or Lisa will leave us tonight; although I think I guessed that last week.

Lisa left with an air of poise that belied her sixteen years of age. She's a likable young lady, but I think it was the right time for her to go. I was surprised that Katharine was in the bottom three instead of Bucky. But Ace earned his place there. I hope everyone takes it up a notch next week.

I could be more specific, just thought I'd cut to the chase and predict the finals and my reasoning behind it.

LOL, hearserve, it's a little early for THAT particular prediction, since we still have 9 contestants left. I think Todd was thinking you'd predicted that Lisa would be eliminated -- at least that's what I got from your post!
I agree that Lisa is a very classy young lady, and I was somewhat sad to see her go.

Yeah, I know, and it looks like I'm just agreeing with Simon. But I honestly made that prediction prior to Simon making it. Honest. No, really.
Another (bolder?) prediction. Enough people will be dismayed enough at McPhee's close call, they will rally behind her and keep her there. It's Bye Bye Bucky time.

Two weeks in a row we've had lackluster performances. :yawn:Only a few weeks ago we were thinking these were the best contestants yet. Even Taylor was just blah tonight. I find myself increasingly in agreement with Simon. I hope to say goodbye to either Ace or Mandisa.

I really thought Taylor did a poor job on that song, possibly just because I like the John Denver version very much and am not digging Taylor as much as I used to. The country roads seemed to fly by, and there was no real country on them, which I thought strange since he does have some country in his voice. That seemed like a poor song choice.
I don't think Ace will go, because he actually did better then usual. Though I honestly don't know who will go, maybe buckey?

If I could choose the next person to leave AI, it would definitely be Paula. She had trouble even being coherent last night, and was stumbling over words. She reminds me of day-old diet coke. Artificially sweet with no fizz left.
Good night for Kellie and Katharine, OK for Elliott and Paris, otherwise very disappointing. (I have to be careful when Katharine comes on. My wife swears she can HEAR my eyes dilate when she appears on the screen.) Even Mandisa, of whom I am a big fan, gave a very forgetable performance. And I was embarassed for Taylor. However, I agree with Hearserve -- it's Bye Bye Bucky time.

1. Taylor - like him, but NOT his performance. I thought it came across more as a parody. He almost acted like he wasn't taking it seriously, which isn't smart.
2. Bucky - Kenny Rogers (don't start me on Kenny and his plastic surgery - OH WOE IS ME!!!) told Bucky to enunciate more so we don't lose the story being told in the lyrics. Bucky didn't listen. I had no idea what he was singing about.
3. Ace - I think his falsetto is better than his actual singing voice. He's a cutie, but we may lose him tonight.
4. Chris - of course, my favorite contestant. I was glad to see him perform a ballad without feeling as though he had to rock it out. I voted for him 10 or so times.
5. Elliott - Solid, as usual. If for some reason Chris can't win the whole thing, I wouldn't be sad if Elliott did. Am I misspelling his name? I think it's got too many consonants in it. Ellllllliotttttttt. Somethin' like that.
6. Paris - I'm deathly tired of "How Do I Live" because the radio will NOT let it die (unintentional bad pun there), but Paris did a pretty good job and I thought she looked pretty as well.
7. Mandisa - I like Mandisa more than I thought I would, but the Shania Twain song wasn't happening for her until her big finish. And, I'm sorry, but she should NOT wear horizontal stripes. Kudos for her confidence in doing so, though.
8. Kellie - She's OK, but I keep waiting for some major vocals to happen and they just never do.
9. Katharine - She looked beautiful and sounded wonderful. That being said, I couldn't figure out what the heck the title of the song was. It took probably 5 repetitions before I finally understood it's "You Bring out the ELVIS in Me." I kept thinking "empress?" "albatross?" "WHAT????" but finally got there. I want her makeup artist to come rescue my makeup mess when they're done with Katharine.

Last night and last week were very lack luster. I think and hope Buckey is gone tonight. Personally, I think Kathy has a voice more suited for Broadway type performing. So far my favorites are still on: Mandisa, Paris and Chris. I think the only thing Ace has going for him is his looks and charm. I am not impressed with Elliot or Taylor. Kelly is just a female Ace. To be honest, this is the first season of AI that I've really watched past the selection of the top 12.

AAArrrgh did you just post the results?!?!?! The show won't air for another 15 minutes here on the West coast! I just came here to make my prediction really quick. Mandisa got voted off are you KIDDING ME?!
She was so good. Maybe not top 3 good, but much better than that.
This season of Idol is starting to annoy. The people are really GOOD but they are not showing it, they are not "bringing" it. They'd better step it up next week or I'll start to get bored with it.

So sorry, Todd. I thought CA viewed the show live! She should never have done a Shania Twain song. The comparison was very unflattering. Aarg! Is that short for argue?

I finally got around to reading this topic. Ace's grandfather, E. Mills Whitney, is the former patriarch in my stake, Valencia California Stake. He gave all three of my kids their patriarchal blessings. Don't know if Ace is active LDS. Posts: 3371 | Registered: Aug 2004

Well, I didn't get to see the results show last night, ER's don't have tvs. But my sweet dh watched it for me and told me when I got home. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't watch it, I was a lot calmer sitting in the ER with ds getting fixed then I would have been watching the show. I probably would have been the patient in the ER with a tv on my foot
As for voting Mandisa off, well about sums up my feelings. It should have been Buckey, he's a very weak singer.

I really like it when I get to see a softer side of Chris as in his country performance this week and earlier when he sang "I Walk the Line" (Johnny Cash's song). I am not into rocker performances. I wonder how they are going to pull off next week doing songs by Queen. I think Chris will do good, but not sure about some of the others.
I think that I like everyone who is left. Ace has my heart. I hear he is single. Too bad he is a little too young for me.
Kelly is a powerhouse and I really like her personality.
Paris is refreshing and and very powerful as well.
Eliott and Taylor have two of the best male voices. I really liked it when Taylor sang that song that goes "Trouble, trouble, trouble the previous week." I am not a huge fan of some of his more flameboyant dance moves though. I am not talking about his stationary moving around, but rather when he moves across the stage and audience.
Kathy McPhee is very talented. I did not like her country choice though.

Anyone who voted for Bucky instead of Mandisa will get what they deserve next week when he tries to handle Queen. Can anyone say "William Hung?"
Actually, Queen is going to be exremely difficult for several of them, including Taylor and Kellie. Look for an interesting interpretation by Chris, and a fun performance by Paris.
Look for more pap from Paula. And if Randy tells one of them "Yo, Yo, Dog, I just didn't think your choice of songs was good," I hope they tell him "Yo, Yo, Yo, Dog, you guys made us sing this stupid niche genre, so don't blame me!"

Well I think the point of forcing them to sing these different genres is to weed out the parrots and let the ones that are truly original, that truly have a personality and unique quality, shine out. That's why I think Katharine (Cath?) won't last much longer (parrot) and Chris has a strong shot to win the whole thing (won't compromise).

Elliott. Elliott. Elliott! Numero uno tonight! I predict Bucky or Ace will leave this week.
The show was an improvement over the last two weeks, possibly because my expectations were pretty low.

I thought Kellie's song choice was appalling. Really she kind of scared me, in all honesty, and I really would like her to go. Even above Bucky, who I didn't think was that bad, but Kellie was annoying.
But Elliott was clearly the best, I hope that people voted for him and didn't just stay with their favorites! That is a big down side to this show, is that some people just vote for their favorite singers regardless of how well or poorly they do, which is why Kellie is still here.

My bottom 3 prediction: Bucky Ace Katharine, and Bucky gets voted off, though I wish it were Katharine. I liked Ace's performance.

I disagree. I don't think Kathryn will be in the bottom three. From the little blurbs at the end of the show, I'd bet Kelly would be. But I didn't get to hear her whole performance.

I wonder if those who have good pitch sense vote for different people. I agreed with the judges that Elliot was pitchy, and so I'm having a hard time seeing why everyone thought his was the best performance.

Where are my kudos, folks? Or is accuracy its own reward?
I only named two for the bottom three and both were there. Maybe this is why my credibility remains unsung--my favorite performer from last night's show, Elliott, joined them there!
I sent a couple hundred votes his way. More than I'd voted all season. Good timing, I'd say.

I also got 2 of the bottom 3 and predicted the loser. I'm getting good at this after watching over 4 seasons!

I am beginning to agree about not just voting for one's favorite contestant. I'd really like to see Chris win, but I could live with it if Elliott won.
Which means I need to start voting for Elliott (as well as Chris), because he nearly left us! I was so panicked.
It was time for Bucky to go, although he's such a sincere, earnest type of guy that he kinda grew on me.
Poor Ace looked like he was going to pass out. Did you SEE how white the poor boy was?

Didn't notice that, Nicole. I like your commentaries because you pick up on things the guys, and I, miss.
Giving Todd his due, kudos Todd!
It won't hurt much to see Ace or Kelly go, but after that, it will become painful! And if anyone leaves before those two,.....yikes!

Paris and Kathryn both make me pull my hair out, they're just chameleons to me, like they put on masks but I don't know who they REALLY are so I can't identify with their songs very well.
I'd by an album by Chris, that's fo sure.
Taylor--he's cool and all but what kind of album would he make??
