I like facial hair.

On men.

Actual hair...not stubble.

Especially "goody-goody" mormon men.

And kilts...but that's another topic.

I like the look of it on most men (Shiz isn't one who sports it well in looks either...) but I cannot stand to kiss stubbly or hairy faces... [Big Frown]

My 3 year-old daughter won't let me kiss her and won't kiss me when I have "pokies". So, my goatee and mustache days have been short-lived since she's been around even though I got a lot of positive reaction from the ladies when I first grew a goatee and mustache - my little lady won't let it be. I even have problems getting a goodnight kiss in the evenings.

The first time my oldest daughter saw me with out facial hair she was terrified. She ran in a corner and started screaming. It was pretty funny. My youngest daughter's reaction was "Daddy, stop being silly! Put it back on!"

They were both just so used to it being there.

Yeah, well, this here manly man can grow a full beard if he wants to (and I do starting in October for our ward's Christmas production for the community) and I get compliments from many, many people at how nice it looks... my goal is to someday rival our own Hansemann and don the vestments of the one who is a Claus and whose name is Santa. I don't have to just limit the whiskers to the upper lip and around the mouth on the chin... [Taunt]

Life is MUCH slower without Shiz home. I say we pool resources and pay Shiz to stay home all the time, instead of working.... [Big Grin]

Okay, I was gonna resist, but again, it is just too good to pass up... "I'm sure Shiz can't stand to kiss stubbly or hairy faces either"... {Imagining Shiz's response in emoticons... [Kiss] [Eek!] } [ROFL] [ROFL] [Razz] [Monkeys]

Okay, so let's change the subject, to something more respectable... like my discussion of farts in Sweden... Did you know that in the Swedish language, they label their freeway onramps and offramps an infart and an utfart?

I thought this was the funniest thing in the world when I was there... and kept repeating it over and over, which drove my wife and Swedish friends crazy.

Well, in German, the word for exit is Ausfahrt... or literal translation "out go"... and well, we all know that when you pass that gas, it does "out go" [Wink] ... But, in the typical efficiency of the German language, they have a discreet unique verb for the action of flatulence... furzen (and unless I've forgetten, the conjugations of said verb are furzen, furzte, gefurzt). [Roll Eyes] [Razz]

One of the funniest concepts when you learn a foreign language is that the words you were taught NEVER TO SAY no longer mean anything to a foreigner and while they're indecent to you, they have absolutely no meaning, nor do they hold the impact that they do to foreigners.

Furthermore, their cursewords are just sounds to you, so you say them and they react so abhorrently and you think, "Well I just said these sounds."

I remember an Italian Elder (Who wanted to learn English) saying once, "I didn't say FWord (only he said it), no Fword, I didn't say Fword, no Fword! no Fword!" (he was really concerned, but kept repeating the offensive word over and over again, trying to clarify something else he'd said, and well...he just didn't get it, cuz the word meant nothing to him.) and all the american elders and sisters in the room kept wincing again and again. Finally we just had to tell him to shut up... because he kept repeating the word...

A cab driver taught me a bunch of swear words in Russian. He commented that my Russian was very good, but that until I learned the swear words, I was not fluent. [Smile]

What I found interesting was that graffiti over there was often English swear words.... [Dont Know]

So I'm sitting here typing and I hear this "skritch! skritch! skritch!" from the the wood-burning stove next to me, coming from one of the vents. Of course I announce it to the whole family, including all my girls who are half chicken, and my youngest daughter who loves animals regardless of how deadly they may be...

Mom finds a flashlight, shines it on the vent, and sure enough there are little claws and a little head trying to squeeze through the slats on the vent.

Turns out... there's another bat in the stove... caught in the ventilation, somehow.

So we've duct-taped all the vents shut, and all the openings on the stove. Hopefully it'll find its way out...

but I just thought I'd share with all you faithful fortressites that Rayb's saga of the bats continues...

Today is official 'recover from vacation' day.

To celebrate, I'm using food storage milk, since hubby accidentally took the carseats to work with him today. [Smile]

And also, we're having an end-of-season soccer party for my daughter's team...although somehow we ended up missing fully half of the games. [Roll Eyes]

I'm here, hoping against all hopes that people will visit me in my little blog universe and wondering why the heck the BeanLeaf contest is requiring NYT font instead of something resident to MS Word like Times New Roman. And any trained person knows serifed characters are optically better for readability than san-serifed characters... [Roll Eyes] Of course, if anyone can come up with NYT font, they are free to show me what it looks like, as I can't find it anywhere...

And now, I feel a Lord of The Dance / Riverdance moment coming on... bring out the Irish step dancers! [ROFL]

yeah, I noticed that typo a while back... Hehehehe... It's times new roman font... Hehehe...

Glad to see you're checking up with us... I err... purposefully put it in... yeah... I put it in... um... to see if anyone was looking at the requirements...

So how is the writing going?

I got up this morning around 5 cuz neither I, nor my very pregnant wife, could sleep (I had a dream that Pres. Hinckley showed up and told me that my wife had cancer... the way he said it, it sounded like he disputed she was pregnant. I agreed she might have cancer, but she was still pregnant, cuz the baby kept moving, and cancer doesn't move... then we were afraid to ask him to give her a priesthood blessing... Weird, I know...) and I wrote a chunk of chapter 8 in the book series I'm doing... It was a pretty cool part of the story.

I've got about one page done. I think it will be interesting. Mrs. Cat Herder likes it so far. I haven't written an actual short story for over 20 years, so I'd forgotten how slow it can go, even when you do know how to start and what the ending is going to be.

See this here, Euphie... [Wink] Ain't that neat? I linked back to the post in the previous page that provided the URL in a link to my blog...

Yes, I am a member of the Order of the Efficiency of the Red Tape. [Laugh]

ETA Of course, in my case, it ended up going to Casi's post right after mine, so I changed it to the post # right before mine so that it would pop up with my post at the top of the page in my browser... No guarantees as to which post shows up at the top of your browsers are made.
