I saw this and thought you all might want a say. You can go to this site today and vote for the Utah state quarter design...

NOT THE SPORTS ONE!

I heard the Utah Quarter was only going to be worth 20 cents...

Before you vote for the "crossroads" one, print it out and shrink it down to the size of a quarter and see how it looks. Then go back and change your vote to the "Beehive State" if you really hate the snowboarder one...

Sorry Boardmadd!

I voted for the Beehive.

Have any of you actually BEEN to the Golden Spike monument? It's out in the middle of no where... near a lake with lots of carp in it... and well... it's about as forgotten as a thing can be...

And the snowboard's just silly...

Not being from Utah, I didn't vote... But I think the Beehive one is the nicest and will be the most unique when it comes to comparison with the other states' quarters. Golden Spike? Oh yeh, that is brilliant and really reflects Utah's nature and contribution to the nation... just a little more than the snowboarder... may as well have a design for the SLC Olympics if you go with either of those, IMHO.

I'm surprised there wasn't a design in the final selection that had been submitted by HBO advertising their show that shall remain unnamed... [Roll Eyes] [Laugh]

Anyway, I'm too busy wondering why I can't bring the several collections of state quarters I'm trying to assemble for my kids up to date... durn quarter hoarders and lack of distribution of the various states and mints!

Hey first, carp are good eatin' second of all Lorenzo Snow was at the Golden spike celebration.

Third I put in the comments box, that it was a commandment revelated to Brigham Young that the railroad must first be built to complete the Temple and well as benefit SLC.

anyway, the beehive was my second chioce, i mean if we could have made a second choice.

My parents reside in Utah, and they don't care according to my talk with dad this morning.

No kidding. I only have one set and can't seem to keep it current.

I like the Beehive best too. (I think the Sego lilies are a nice touch and nod to heritage as well.)

No need to apologize [Smile] . Putting a snowboarder on a state quarter is just wrong (even if I think Brighton truly is is the snowboarding mecca of the world [Cool] ).

I think the history of Utah is best reflected by the beehive, so if I lived in Utah, I would vote for that. But I don't so I can't... but please don't use the snowboarder... that method grab is just plain sloppy [Big laugh] .

How about a picture of Warren Jeffs -- America's Most Wanted. Perhaps that will help in the search.

...side note...did you know that Warren Jeffs is in some odd way related to me... His family goes back to the Steed Family, and my ancestors were related to the Steeds as well...
Its amazing how 150 years and a little mental illness can boil over, in seemingly good families...

I really like the cross roads of the west though

Since I am a model railroading enthusiast and have loved trains all of my life, I would vote for the Crossroads of the West, except I am a Californian.

Sidenote: They don't call Utah the Crossroads, etc. for nothing. It's one of the main illegal drug distribution centers in the West! [Eek!]

I don't live in Utah but I hoard quarters (1 Denver mint, 1 Philadelphia mint each). I voted for the Beehive coin and the automated website thanked me for my interest and my vote. [Wink]

You can vote, even if you don't live in Utah...otherwise, why would they even have the space on the form for you to put your state?

Other states have had online vote pages and I know at least one of them had to put in code to watch out for bot voting.

(And if you don't know what an internet bot is: A bot is a program that will auto fill and submit a page.)

Well, I can't wait for Washington's state quarter... I'm hoping it says, "Washington: Where Serial Killers come from..." then have it list the unusually high number that come from this state...

Ray,

You're supposed to warn me in case I'm drinking again! Sheesh!

My dad got me a book for Christmas. The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers . It's great, though not what I would call light reading. His new wife (German born and a little on the rigid side) was shocked and appalled at the sick joke, until my dad told her I would actually LIKE the book. And I do. I have this thing about sociopaths and psychopaths. I would love to get a degree in criminal psychology.

Oh, and you guys have all the serials cuz the rain is depressing and then they get hyped up on all that caffeine in the coffee.... [Wink]

Minnesota had like 4 choices, one of them included two SS people on it holding hands with an AIDS ribbon between them and the title said "embrace diversity"

Try explaining that one to the little junior coin collectors

OK, I voted. I went Beehive first, and in my comments I said the crossroad should be second. I also said that, as much as I love snowboarding, there's a time and aplace for stuff like that. A state quarter really isn't the place (plus that rider looks like he's straight out of 1989 [Eek!] [Big Grin] .

Actually, if I lived in Utah, I would have voted for the railroad. I would have no confidence that non-LDS (and therefore most of the rest of the U.S.) would understand the beehive. And then once they did find out, they would go, "It's just a Mormon thing." IMO [Wink]

"Crossroads of the West" IS a "Mormon thing." Isn't that how Lloyd Newell signs off each Sunday, when he promises that in another seven days, the Tabernacle Choir will again come to us from "the crossroads of the West"?
