Which internet browser gets your vote for safest and/or fastest? I run Mozilla Firefox but have Internet Explorer for a back-up for the occasional time Firefox has loading issues. A friend loathes IE and claims it has too many security holes, though another has told me the newest version is supposed to have fixed many of them.
I’m looking for a recommendation above and beyond IE if you’ve got a particular favorite.

I use Firefox for my normal browsing, Explorer when a given site only supports Explorer, and Firefox isn't fast enough. I prefer Firefox over Chrome because it has better features, but Chrome does win for speediest.

I hear good things about chrome, me I'm set with firefox and Opera, both have plusses and negatives, but both are far better than IE even with the improvements. The biggest problem with IE is that it is the biggest and thus is the biggest target for malware writers.
IE is no longer the absolute worst browser to use, but it's still the biggest target. Thus, although vulnerabilities for the other browsers are identified as often as they are for IE, the other browsers tend to fix the problems faster. The bad guys hear about all the weaknesses and choose which ones to go after. If you want to cause problems are you going to use the key that will get you into 25% of the homes or the one that will let you into 50%.

Firefox. Every time we get back internet with IE we become a target. Firefox has better protection. V.

I've tried IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome. The one I like the most is Chrome, but there are a lot of sites that don't work perfectly with it. In particular, opening pdfs on websites quite frequently doesn't work. However, it is faster than the rest, has fewer crashes and generally does the job best.

Another vote for Chrome. Only two complaints, compatibility (IE and Firefox are offical supported by sites such as Netflix) and no right click-> print.

Out of all the browsers available, persoanlly I like Chrome the best, but Firefox is the best if you do any type of web development or web testing work (Selenium is a really cool automated testing tool, and its IDE is designed specifically for Firefox). Unfortunately, most of the world still uses IE, so i have to test with it more than anything else (but I don't particularly enjoy the experience ).

I've been using Chrome more lately because it deals better with a plugin (such as Flash) that is having problems, but mostly before that I used Firefox. Like Boardmadd, I still frequently have to use IE for work. Partly because some testing tools, such as Mercury Quality Center, will only work with IE.

Sorry, brain fart on my part. No right click -> print of highlighted text. I knew what I meant, I just didn't say it. Posts: 105 | Registered: Mar 2010

I've been having problems with pop ups in my Google Chrome. The setting is to block them and only the two that I approved are in the allowed list. Any ideas?

Are they Bing popups? This might help- go to control panel, internet options, look at home page settings, if you see live.com remove it. Otherwise it might just be a new Chrome issue (I don't use it myself but a friend does). Maybe watch this chrome page for answers?
