This is from the L.A. Times, which may require you to register (but it's worth registering b/c there are lots of interesting stories from day to day)
The biggest state FINALLY has its first Ex-Mormons for Jesus center. These fine Christian folk pray that our hearts will be turned to Christ & away from the false doctrines that keep us out of heaven. They give ex-Mormons a soft place to land b/c, as everyone knows, we beat up on or simply ostracize those who leave. Good grief, how did apostates manage all these years without this? It would be like having no recovery room to go to after surgery.
One reason I suspect the Lord asks His people to be a lay church is to keep us busy & out of trouble. I have 3 callings & part of a 4th. I love them, but they require a lot of work. There's barely enough time to pray for good things; what active Latter-day Saint has time or energy left to pray against any other church? Few churches require anything near the degree of time & energy to serve in the kingdom & the world that the Lord expects of His true followers. It's easy to see how, if I were paying for a full-time pastor whom I expected to do all the work, I could have all that free time on my hands & get into lots of mischief.

Oh yeah, we're talking bodies, not acreage. When Alaska's population hits 30,000,000 & there are enough Mormons to seem like a threat, you'll probably see one there. Posts: 13020 | Registered: Apr 2005
