I'm late in posting this, but I have my first calling: RS Enrichment Leader. I was sustained in late Nov. and set apart in the first part of Dec. I have ideas but always welcome more and better ones, so please post here to help the Horse. [Big Grin]

We still do it the "old way", one night a month. Since we are a small ward that's all that really makes sense at this point. There just isn't a call for lots of smaller groups meeting weekly. If there ever is a call for that, we are prepared to encourage and facilitate it, though. For now we have our monthly meetings which all the ladies seem to enjoy.

We have a cooking segment as the food really seems to bring the sisters in! I also have started implementing a "hands-on" segment, where different skills will be demonstrated, and all the sisters will have a chance, if they wish, to try it out "hands-on" with someone there to help them. Then if there is an interest in getting together a group to engage in that activity on a regular basis we will set something up.

And we will have an educational and/or faith-promoting activity monthly. We had an absolutely awesome scripture marking class in November by an incredibly talented and organized sister who shared with us her ideas and techniques.

We are blessed to have a husband/wife doctor/nutritionist team in our ward, who have both agreed to do an upcoming segment for us. That should dovetail with the WoW very nicely!

So please, any wonderful ideas? Thanks!

Congratulations on your calling, Spotted Horse! It sounds like you're going to enjoy it & do great. [Smile] <smile>

I've never had a calling in HFPE or its old incarnation, Homemaking. But if I get any brilliant ideas, I'll trot them over to you.

One thing I liked about the old monthly meetings was the opportunity for everyone to sample different activities. We always had a spiritual lesson or program, then one or two activities focused on food, crafts, sewing or knitting, culture (books, art/music appreciation), family relations, service, etc.

The way it's done now, I think folks tend to gravitate toward what interests them. That makes us less likely to get involved in something new or to have monthly non-Sabbath interaction with many of the sisters. And it's easier to get out of the habit of going if the RS-wide meeting is quarterly rather than monthly.

So I guess my first suggestion is that since you're still on the monthly schedule, have several offerings each time to attract people with a variety of interests.
