Zalmoxis was nice enough to give me an invite to Gmail. As Hatrackers here probably know, at Hatrack there is a Gmail thread with people offering invites to Gmail as given to them by Google.
Since I signed up for Gmail, they have given me 6 invites and I wanted to see if anyone here would like one. If you do, just e-mail me at titustodd at gmail dot com.
Just so you know, Gmail is an e-mail service currently in Beta testing by Google. The only way to sign up for Gmail at this time is by invitation.

Really? That creeps me out. I mean, imagine what ads I'd get if I wrote my husband that I loved him and couldn't wait to see him. Posts: 8170 | Registered: Aug 2004

It's not like it's a person reading the emails; it's a computer trying to target the ads. So it doesn't "creep me out" like somebody reading my personal mail. And I ignore all the ads anyway; in fact, I hardly even register them at all.

It's all the same kinds of ads you get when you do a google search anyway. They are pretty ignorable. I don't even notice them.

I've been using email for a long time and the rule has always been: Don't write anything that you wouldn't put on a postcard/publish in the NY Times for business stuff.
Email is never confidential (I've been a computer admin, its amazing what gets logged). And the ads are a lot less intrusive then the get a date junk I always see on hotmail.
