Are any of you going to watch the NBC mini series of Revelations that starts this Wed? Parts of it sound somewhat morbid, based on the reviews. I hadn't planned to but changed my mind when I found out Bill Pullman is one of the stars.

I hadn't heard anything about it. I may have to investigate. If you do end up watching, let us know how it is--as I'll probably forget. Posts: 5737 | Registered: Oct 2004

I plan on watching. End of days movies have been a guilty pleasure since I was a little girl and watched the second Omen movie. Luckily they always fizzle at the end or I would be plagued with nightmares. Posts: 6 | Registered: Nov 2004

I too like to watch end-of-the-world movies. This is a 6 parter, an hour a week on Weds so if it starts to suck, one can just stop watching. I have done that only to watch the last episode just to see how it all ends up.

I ended up not watching. I watched the first 1/2 or so but wasn't really paying attention, as I read the paper, etc while watching and then get confused as to the story line. Like Lisa, I enjoy end of the world type movies, but this one was a bit dark and odd for me, and that is even worse due to my older TV. Maybe when it comes to the video store.

Well, I watched. I thought it was pretty darn good. There was good, evil, and lawyers. (Fighting over a brain dead girl..."pull the plug or not." Of all things.) What I liked: 1. The suspense. It kept you on the edge of your seat. 2. The hook ending. I want to see what happenes next week. 3. The whole look of the show. It isn't "cheaply done." (Nice lightening strike on the girl. Twice.) 4. The killer: "I don't bleed." (shivvvvver.)
What I didn't like: 1. Natascha McElhone who plays the nun. I had a very hard time with her accent. 2. Those things that always happen that you say "come on." Dad helping to escort the killer of his daughter home on the plane? 3. Trying to figure out what scripture is being followed.
Questions: 1. What is up with the baby on the life raft? 2. "I don't bleed?"
Overall: Very good. I'll watch again.
Here is a review from the Deseret Morning News. (It may not be a six part mini series.) If you didn't see it tonight, this will catch you up to speed for the second episode.

I didn't see it on Sci Fi's lineup for friday. I see it is going to be replayed on Sunday night at 10 p.m Eastern on NBC. I am going to Tivo it
I hope it's a good show. Ever since that other show the 4400 I think it was called, I've been waiting of a good sci fi type of show to come on. I also like watching the Dead Zone, although I haven't seen any new episodes lately.

Yes and I noticed that MNBC or whatever that cable extension of NBC is, will also be showing it.
Why are bad evil crazy guys so annoying to me? I just want to cut their heads off first thing and be done with them. Yet the characters will listen to them. Bah! Off with its head. Posts: 1765 | Registered: Apr 2004

I meant to watch it, but completely forgot! Lisa do you know what time it is going to be on MSNBC?
I really liked the 4400 and was sad that they never made more episodes. There just aren't enough good sci fi tv shows out there!

I have heard rumors that a second "season" of 4400 is in the works. I think Jettboy read that somewhere on some scifi board.

If the 4400 pilot is going to be on again sometime, will someone let me know? I missed it originally, and I meant to tape it a couple months ago when it came on again, but I missed it. Posts: 865 | Registered: Oct 2004

Thanks Lisa, I actually managed to catch Revelations on Sci Fi last night, I think it is on Bravo tonight, Sunday, and Tuesday. It was really good, but scary!

I thought it was nicely done, with cool effects, and a compelling story. It really sucks you in right away. It seemed to be fun, without taking itself too seriously. I liked that the showed the other professor who allowed that science did not eliminate belief in God, because otherwise it would make it kind of seem as if all scientists were doubters! One thing I wasn't sure of, that I'm not sure how it is going to turn out, is the whole infant thing. When the showed it on the wreckage, it looked like a really scary baby. I expected to have like red eyes or a lizard tounge. But other then that, I'm looking forward to seeing what else this show has in store for us. The guy who plays the satanic guy is a good actor, he really scared me, but I always wonder in those situations why the good science guy goes back to see him. He knows that this guy is evil and sick, why would he want to know more of his evilness?

Did you catch it? Why are the satan guys after Dr. Massey (or whatever his name is?) I didn't ever figure it out.

Well I thought that the premise was that they attacked his daughter because she was innocent, you know evil wanting to prey on the innocent. And then they focused on her father because he went hunting after them. He tracked the bad guy down outside of the country and brought him to justice, which I suppose means he has kind of made himself their enemy.

So, nitasmile. Did you see it? What did you think? Did it hook you for the second episode?
I watched it again last night. I decided I quite like the actor who plays Dr. Massey. I thought he did a credible job with a wide range of emotions he had throughout the episode.
I did put on the closed captioning so I could understand the french accent better.

No, I didn't watch it. I had posted that info on the repeat episode for the benefit of those who wanted to see it but missed it the first time, etc. I was super tired, etc. However, I am sure it will be on again! I would like to see it, I was just not focused enough when I tried last time. Thanks.

It seems like the pilot has been on a ton of times, even twice on network. I saw it is in the rotation on SciFi and Bravo, I actually saw it on both. So I'm ready to see the next one. My room mate said that she thought it was based on those Tim Lehay (sp?) books about the end of the world, but neither of us have read them. Does anyone know if it is based on those books, or any particular books?

It is not based on his books, he has actually said that this mini-series is not Bible-based. There are movies being made from his books. They have Kirk Cameron from "Growing Pains" in them.

Thanks for the answer. I like the show in general, mostly just because it is a good adventure and mystery. If it was based on the bible, as bad as this sounds, I probably wouldn't like it as much. I have a testimony of the scriptures, but I don't particularly think they are for entertainment. I'm looking forward to tonights episode! Sarah

I'm really enjoying this. No swearing that I've caught, little violence shown (although lots is talked about), and a good story so far.

I am enjoying it also. I thought episode 2 was a little slower than the first one, but you need to build up the background information, I guess.
I liked: "I think they are fashion models."
They actor playing the Satan worshipper in prison is soooo good. <shudder>

That satanist guy is very scary! I enjoyed the second episode, but not as much as the first. I'm not sure how I feel about the infant. I'm not much of eschatologist, but I've never thought of Christ returning as an infant! Also it seems kind of odd that Dr. Massy never mentions the religious experiences he has, and we never see any that Sister Monafiore has! Perhaps we will see more!

What an unrealistic show! I've never met a nun in real life that was such a hottie.
Edited to add that I just got back from the dentist, and the laughing gas is affecting me. I'm just kidding around. When we saw it the other night, I knew I'd seen the actress who played the nun before, but couldn't place her. My wife said she was in the Truman Show. I don't remember her speaking with an english accent in that movie. Then again, I don't remember that she even had any lines, either.

So did anyone see last night's episode? I thought it was quite intense, particularly with the evil satan guy possessing the girl! I'm enjoying the show still, but I don't know what they are doing with this baby thing.

Yep, I did, and agree with you. The Satan guy is so scary every time you see him. It is half way through it's 6 episodes. It is going to take some wrapping up to tie up all the loose ends. Satan guy knows where the girl is now. He has kidnapped the boy. What is up with the "miracle child" and his mom.
And did he grow a new finger?

They sewed the finger back on after he stuck it in the door, and then he apparently pulled it off to induce his trance. That was really frightening. I also am leary of how they plan on concluding all of their story lines. Particularly whether they intend to find Christ in the end...my thought is that they will not so they can keep it open for more episodes!

Pretty good that they have Fred Durst playing one of the Satan guys. Not that they are type casting or anything...

What a creepy show this is. How about the "Oh, we're Mormons" lines for the Satan worshipers? I don't know whether to be insulted or flattered that it is the furthest thing from the truth they could think of. And what is with the "Why isn't he in school?" "Oh, because we're Mormons?"
Wow. I just shuddered thinking about the show last night. It sure seems the bad guys are doing all the winning, doesn't it? The good guys better get their act together and soon, or it is going to be too late. The Satan guy has grown back his finger. Didn't a guard or Dr. Massey bother to notice? Why would they televise his trial back to the jail? Stupid ACLU. Wow, and isn't his lawyer creepy? Always kenw that Satan would have creepy lawyers...
What is up with the new star? I think they could have explained that just a little better.
Do you worry for the undergrad student in Dr. Massey's office? I think he would be on the hit list.
I can't wait for nest weeks episode. How are they going to tie this all up? What will they leave open for the next series if there is one?
Production wise, I am impressed every week. The sets, the acting, the whole look of the show is creepily well done.
I wonder if the Satan babies didn't get lost from "Lost."

It seemed that they were arguing that people can prevent the end times from coming, that it had happened before, but they didn't explain why Christians would want to stop the return of Christ. They could always say they'd held the end off for a little bit longer.
The two most upseting/creepy parts of this last episode were the satan baby and the murder of Hawk.
How many episodes are left?

We've had 4 episodes, so that means two are left.
I don't think Hawk is dead. They said "If you survive..." so I think he keeps going. Besides, he is scheduled to die in a bloody sacrafice thing so pushing off the cliff would be kind of anti-climatic.
But wasn't the falling off the cliff thing a good image? I wonder if it was a real person doing that massive belly flop...
