Hello to the people of Nauvoo! [Wave]

I suppose I should have introduced myself before my comments on another thread, so here it goes:

I am CookieJar, student of art and mischief, and lover of all things cookie.

My posts may or may not be sporadic because I do get pretty busy. But since I've been down with the flu since yesterday, and have been hanging around the house in hopeless boredom, I saw Nauvoo and thought "Eh, what the heck? Let's do it!"

I do look forward to getting to know you all, and participating in the fun of the forum. [Smile]

Hello again [Wave] & welcome to the Nauvoo neighborhood. We hope you enjoy it here & find a nice house to settle down in.

Since cookies are popular here, you should fit right in. [Razz]

Most of Nauvoo is pet-friendly. The Cabin or the Porch is where you'll find most of our animals at any given time. As a student of mischief, you might enjoy them.

Nice to meet you all (again)! [Wave]

quidscribis, as far as art goes, I dabble. I like to experiment with various different mediums like charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, pen, India Ink etc. Occasionally I have made ventures into photography, but I still can't figure out how to use that darn photoshop!
What interests me a lot right now is illustration: putting the concept of narrative into a piece of work, especially when it can be done in one slide as opposed to a whole story board. Art has played such an integral role in many instances in story telling, and the passing of legends/oral history down to the next generation, and it instills a sense of creativity and imagination in its viewers... a skill I think is unfortunately getting lost in much of today's art, but I digress.

As far as cookies, what can I say? I like sweet, I like frosted. I like chocolate, I like peppermint. I like ginger, and I like snickerdoodles.
Basically boiling down to about any cookie without cocoanut, or about any form of nut for that matter. Eeek! [Angst]

I respect people who are creative. Me, I draw in stick figures. But photography, well... I might not be great at it, but I sure do have a fun time. [Smile] Here, I mainly photograph the local wildlife, like the tropical birds, the lizards, the chameleons, squirrels, flowers, my papaya tree, and local scenery...

C ookie, about photoshop... That was originally designed for illustrators and graphic designers, not photographers, and contains way way way more stuff than any sane photographer will ever need. Have you tried Aperture or Lightroom? Both are geared specifically towards photographers, as is photoshop elements. I've tried using photoshop as well, but honestly, it mostly confuses me. But Lightroom (Aperture is only for the Mac, which I don't use) is easy peasy, and there are hundreds of free plugins available to give you a start on customizing/playing with your images.

And for me, coconut is a must. I love coconut. [Big Grin]

Okay, that was weird. I had to add a space to Cookie just so I could post the previous reply. It said it wasn't an allowable HTML tag.
